Data Acquisition System
| This data acquisition system has
been especially designed for clinical
use but it is also execellent for research use. It
contains six general purpose input channels for external devices, as ECG
amplifiers, blood pressure monitors and respiration flow sensors, etc. The
rest two channels are the Valsalva manoeuvre pressure sensor unit and the pressure
sensor for Martin Vigorimeter balloons. Its use is fully integrated into the
WinCPRS software. Since it is connected to the serial port or USB
port (needs external serial port-USB adapter) of the computer, it can
be used with any personal computer including laptops. See Accessories
to find suitable connector cables for your own measurement devices. The general purpose input channels, the external power supply unit and the serial/USB port communication lines are all isolated from each other which guarantees total safety of the system and connection to the external devices without any grounding or noise problems. |

| Recording of intrathoracic pressure is important during Valsalva manoeuvre when this clinical test is conducted. Measuring and recording of the actual intrathoracic pressure signal verifies that the test has been performed in a valid way. In the post-processing phase the intrathoracic pressure signal can be utilized to delinete the various time phases during Valsalva manoeuvre. | Handgrip pressure from the Martin Vigorimeter balloon guarantees that the hand force has reached the preset level and it stays on that level. The accurate timing information from the pressure signal makes it possible to analyze carefully the cardiovascular responses during the isometric handgrip test.
